Last week, my class had find out what perspective was the story ‘Wonder’ was written in. (‘Wonder’ was written by R.J Palacio.) To do this, we had to do our own essays and use examples from the text, also we found quotes to back up what we thought. It had to have an introduction and an conclusion. Overall, I liked ‘Wonder’ so much, that I can’t wait to read more of ‘Wonder’. Please enjoy this.
‘Wonder’ is a story about a boy who feels ordinary on the inside, but he is always reminded of how different he is by how people respond when they see him. This is R.J Palacio’s first novel and it is written in the 1st person.
This paragraph at the start of the book is in first person because August says “I know I’m not an ordinary ten year old kid. I mean, sure, I do ordinary things. I eat ice cream. I ride my bike. I play ball. I have an XBox.”
This paragraph near the end of the first page is still in first person because august says “But I’m kind of used to how I look by now. I know how to pretend I don’t see the faces people make.”
This paragraph is at the chapter ‘Jack Will, Julian and Charlotte’ but yet, it is again first person because August says “Next week I start fifth grade. Since I’ve never been to a real school before, I am pretty much totally and completely petrified.”
Therefore, I think that Palacio has used the first person point of view in her story ‘Wonder.’
